What the f word is that? I asked myself waking up one day and realizing that many of my contacts had changed their profile picture with stunning illustrated image of themselves made by a popular Ai app.
In early 2023, things started moving so fast in my area of work. Yes we already had website builders, dumb logos maker apps and photos filters but I have talked about this, they are not very great to use in terms of rendering a very professional work and I wasn’t very threatened by those tools.
Like a caterpillar, a line of code became a function that turned into an application to finally become the Artificial intelligence, the Nemesis of humankind… The end of imagination and the beginning of generation.
What is Ai?
Okay… Google define Artificial intelligence has the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks normally requiring human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages.
But what can it do in our inforgraphic world especifically? Well…AI is used in graphic design to revolutionize the graphic design process, making it more efficient and user-friendly. With AI, designers can automate tedious tasks, freeing more time for creative work. Additionally, AI algorithms can analyse data and generate designs tailored to specific audiences and demographics.
So it’s basically a robot-like being equiped with an algorithm which can only produce results based on the informations humans gave… Not that smart right? 😅
Futuristic tool but not so cool!
With the expending of Ai in many area of work, the world is becoming very advance and futuristic but at what cost?
Does it mean that we are being replaced? The main problems with its development are the possibility of overriding the welfare of human beings and the creation of a threat to employment. To better understand we need to get back to a simple word which changed the world in the past : automaticity
One day a man was tired to grind his seeds himself so he used animals instead and the animals made him increase is productivity but he had to take care of them in order to keep them alive. The man started to think and came up with the idea of using the wind and the water flow to do the job by the help of a mechanism that he build.
So the man finally rest , the animals were finally free and that was the birth of automaticity.
But this story has no happy ending, sometimes the seeds were grinded perfectly but other times the result has defaults if the mechanism has encounter bad conditions for it process and the man had to wait if the wind was strong enough for his grinder to work.
The man automatically became dependent of his creation and he didn’t like it so he build another machine working not naturally but with artificial energy which he had to work to made but that didn’t solve the problem at all…he had to work every day to produce this energy for his machine for it to give him food (who is the master in this story?)
What I think.
You see some humans have this will of overcomplicating life with no reason, it is the same for artificial intelligence, it’s just another step of complicating things. There is no glory of letting something guide your way, even if you pre-program thousand paths you stay in your own maze.
In conclusion, the natural intelligence stay superior to the Artificial intelligence, human imagination is limitless and gives extraordinary results, stopping using it in the world of art is madness. Yes it takes a lot of work but the sentiment of accomplishment is priceless compare to a fast work that is just a copy of something already existing !
